MRA Sr. Sec. Model School, Sector 27-A Chandigarh & MRA Modern Public School, Panchkula jointly organised a Blood Donation Camp in Chandigarh Branch on November 25, 2023. The camp was organised in collaboration with Blood transfusion department, PGI, Chandigarh. Every year the camp is organised to pay homage to Late Sh. Hardayal Mahajan, founder President of both the esteemed institutions.
Medical/Health facilities were also available at free of cost. The primary objectives of the event was to create awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation and contribute to the noble cause of saving lives by collecting blood from willing donors.
The event was inaugurated by DSP Palak Goel along with the management members of the school. She motivated the blood donors and appreciated the efforts of the school for contributing towards a noble cause.
The event was meticulously organised by a dedicated team of teachers, students, and representatives from MRA. The middle wing and the pre - primary wing of the school was transformed into a well-equipped and comfortable donation centre with separate areas for registration, medical check-ups and the donation process.
The response from students, teachers and parents was overwhelming. Many individuals volunteered to donate blood, reflecting a strong sense of community and social responsibility within the school. Prior to the event, awareness campaigns were conducted to educate the school community about the significance of blood donation.
It was a learning experience to observe the organisational skills, the hospitality and the bonhomie among the donors was commendable and the satisfaction of being a blood donor amongst them. Every year the school receives very prompt and wholehearted responses from our esteemed parents. Apart from blood donation, free Health check up for eyes ,Orthopaedic, Dental and Audiometry was also held..
NSS and NCC volunteers also conducted the awareness campaign in the campus regarding the misconceptions related to blood donation and the benefits of the same were also made aware to everyone.
The camp got an overwhelming response from all the donors and around 134 units of blood were donated. Director of the school, Mrs. Rachna Mahajan stressed on the growing need of blood and congratulated the young volunteers for their enthusiastic participation.
Principal, Dr. Seema Biji and Headmistress, Mrs. Ramandeep Kaur encouraged and thanked all the donors for the noble step they have taken to help the fellow brethren.
